History

Wastewater Treatment PlantTimpanogos Special Service District (TSSD) was established in 1976 to provide regional wastewater treatment service for residents located in the north end of Utah County.  TSSD authorized the design and construction of a Wastewater Treatment Plant to be located south and east of American Fork in Utah County near the shore of Utah Lake.  The plant began operation in 1979 with an initial treatment capacity of 7.6 million gallons per day (MGD) treating wastewater from the cities of American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Lehi and Alpine.  Since 1976, additional cities and service areas have been annexed to the District, including Highland and Cedar Hills (1996); Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain (1999); the Utah County side of Suncrest (2005); and part of Vineyard (2006).  Expansion projects in 1984 and 1996 increased the treatment capacity to 18.3 MGD.  The most recent expansion project completed in 2013 increased the treatment capacity to 30.0 MGD.
